The Western Railway zone of the Indian Railways has introduced the Mobile Train Radio Communication (MTRC) system.
Recently, the Western Railway Zone of Indian Railways has introduced a Mobile Train Radio Communication (MTRC) system to facilitate direct and continuous communication between the train crew and the control centre and station master.
Through an effective communication system, this technologically advanced system will help prevent train accidents. This new communication system has already been deployed at 105 rakes, which will be operational in the suburban section of Mumbai between Churchgate to Virar.
The mobile train radio communication system will take the shortest time to connect the call ie 300 milliseconds and this is the first time that MTRC has been installed in India. MRTC performs the same functions like air traffic control (ATC) for aircraft.
The system will monitor, track and assist communication between trains and the control room, ensuring smooth movement of rakes, as well as helping to prevent adverse events.
The new digital MTRC system will be supplied at a cost of approximately $ 820,000, with a two-year warranty and a five-year annual maintenance fee (AMC).
