World Unani Day: 11 February
World Greek Day is celebrated globally on 11 February every year. This day is celebrated every year as the birth anniversary of famous Greek scholar and social reformer Hakim Ajmal Khan.
The main objective of World Unani Day is to spread awareness about providing health care services with the help of the Unani system of medicine through its preventive and curative approach.
The first Unani Day was celebrated in 2017 at the Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine, Hyderabad.
- Unani medicine was introduced in India by the Arabs and Persians around the eleventh century.
- It has the largest number of Greek education, research and health care institutions.
- The foundation of the Unani system of medicine was laid by Hippocrates in Greece.
- Hakim Ajmal Khan was one of the founders of Jamia Millia Islamia of New Delhi.
- Rich versatile Hakim Ajmal Khan was a noted Indian Unani physician, great scholar, social reformer, popular freedom fighter, Unani medical educationist and founder of scientific research in Unani medicine.

(विश्व यूनानी दिवस का मुख्य उद्देश्य इसके निवारक और उपचारात्मक दृष्टिकोण के जरिए यूनानी चिकित्सा पद्धति की मदद से स्वास्थ्य देखभाल सेवा मुहैया कराने के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाना है।)
(पहला यूनानी दिवस 2017 में केंद्रीय अनुसंधान संस्थान यूनानी चिकित्सा (Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine), हैदराबाद में मनाया गया था।)
- भारत में यूनानी चिकित्सा पद्धति ग्यारहवीं शताब्दी के आसपास अरबों और फारसियों द्वारा शुरू की गई थी।
- इसमें यूनानी शिक्षा, अनुसंधान और स्वास्थ्य देखभाल संस्थानों की सबसे बड़ी संख्या है।
- यूनानी चिकित्सा पद्धति की नींव हिप्पोक्रेट्स द्वारा यूनान में रखी गई थी।
- हकीम अजमल खान, नई दिल्ली की जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया के संस्थापकों में से थे |
- बहुमुखी प्रतिभा के धनी हकीम अजमल खान एक प्रसिद्ध भारतीय यूनानी चिकित्सक, महान विद्वान, समाज सुधारक, लोकप्रिय स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, यूनानी चिकित्सा शिक्षाविद और यूनानी चिकित्सा पद्धति में वैज्ञानिक अनुसंधान के संस्थापक थे।
