What is Biotechnology?
Biotechnology is a discipline in biology that deals with the use of living organisms and their derivatives for the development and production of new products that are beneficial and useful for living organisms and society. In simple words biotechnology is the use of living organisms and molecular biology to synthesize useful products from the raw material.
Biotechnology is playing a great role by producing beneficial products for mankind in the fields of medicine, food, agriculture, the environment, and genetics.
In the field of medicine the development of insulin, gene therapy techniques, growth hormones, and vaccines such as hepatitis B become possible only due to biotechnology and genetic engineering.

Eligibility and Admission criteria for Biotechnology
You can get admission in BS Biotechnology in any university in Pakistan if you have done FSc pre-medical. There are many universities in Pakistan that are offering BS Biotechnology in Pakistan and you can get admission easily if you have at least 60% marks in FSc pre-medical. However, if you want to get admission into biotechnology in any public sector university on merit then you must have 90% marks in FSc pre-medical.
