Veterinary medicine is a branch of medicine that deals with the study of diagnosis, control, prevention, and treatment of different diseases, disorders, and injuries in animals i.e cow, goat, horse, buffaloes, dog, and cat, etc. The scope of veterinary medicine covers both domestics and wildlife. animals. Veterinary science monitors and controls the diseases transmitted from animals to humans and in this way it prevents humans from these zoonotic diseases. It also helps to ensure the continuous supply of food by treating and monitoring them.
Professional care in veterinary medicine is headed by a Doctor of Veterinary medicine also known as a veterinarian but sometimes a junior technician also performs this task. Junior veterinary technicians are the persons who treat, monitor, prevent and control diseases in animals and work under the Doctor of Medicine or Veterinarian.

Eligibility and Admission criteria for DVM
DVM is only for you if you have done your FSc in medical. There are tens of universities that are offering DVM both in the private and public sectors. If you want to become a veterinarian or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine then you have to pass your FSc pre-medical with good marks. There are many universities that give you admission on the basis of your marks in FSc pre-medical while some universities conduct their own entrance exam and after passing this exam you will get admission in DVM in these universities. So, If you to get admission in any public sector university on merit then you should have at least 90 to 95% marks in FSc pre-medical.
You can also do diploma courses in veterinary medicine after completing your FSc pre-medical. It is also a good choice. After completing this VA diploma course you will be called a Veterinary assistant. Department of livestock in Pakistan often announce vacancies for veterinary assistant.
