The exercise, named 'AsterX' in memory of the first French satellite of the year 1965, will be implemented on the basis of 18 simulated events in an operation room.
Amid increasing competition among world powers, France recently launched its first military exercise in space to test its ability to attack its satellites as well as other defence equipment in Earth orbit.
Michel Frieling, the head of the newly created Space Command of France, described the space exercise as a stress test of the system and noted that this military exercise was the first for the French Army as well as Europe.
At the time of this exercise, the French Army will, with considerable space force, monitor a dangerous space object as well as try to secure its own satellite from any other foreign power.
German space and American space force agencies have also been participating in this exercise. This military exercise will run from March 8 to March 12, 2021. Which was announced by the Space Command of France in 2019. Under which the target was to deploy 500 personnel in space by the year 2025.
France's Defense Minister Florence Paley stated that France plans to develop anti-satellite laser weapons and new surveillance capabilities to strengthen its position with Russia, the US and China.
