Under this scheme, any tourist vehicle operator can apply online for a permit from the All India Tourist Authority.
Recently, the central government has announced an online arrangement to give all-India permits to the vehicles of the tourism sector. Tourist vehicle operators can avail the new facility from 01 April.
Announcing this, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that permits will be issued within 30 days of submission of online application, all authentic documents and fees.
The ministry said in its statement that we hope that the new permit rules will help in promoting tourism in the states of the country and this will also increase the revenue of the state governments. In view of the growing travel and tourism industry in our country in the last 15 years, this step has been taken. Both domestic and foreign tourists have contributed to this growth.
According to the Ministry of Transport, in this scheme, the tourist vehicle operators will be given the flexibility of the period. Under this, the operator will be given a permit in three months and its coefficient. Permits will be given for a maximum period of 3 years.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has said in a proposal that after the first April next year, registration of any government vehicle older than 15 years will not be renewed. Transport Ministry has sought opinion from all the concerned parties for this proposal.
