Hyderabad is recognized for the "Tree City of the World 2020"
Recently the capital of Telangana, Hyderabad has been recognized as the 2020 Tree City of the World by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Arbor Day Foundation for its commitment to the development and maintenance of urban forests. Hyderabad is the only city in India to be recognized as a tree city now. With this recognition, it has joined a network of like-minded global cities that recognize the importance of trees in building healthy, resilient, and happy cities.
Tree City of the World 2020 is the second year of the recognition program, with 120 cities from 63 countries. Most cities were from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
